Another summer has come in Athens bringing the season of music festivals. Residents and visitors to Athens can enjoy a wide range of live concerts from Indian through punk rock to classic rock. A shocking dose of live concerts is scheduled for June beginning with the legendary Lynard Skynyrd. They will visit Athens on 18 June and will perform Sweet Home Alabama, That Smell and the unforgettable Free Bird on the baseball field near the old Athens airport. The tickets cost 40 euro.

On the next day, 19 June, after the rockers from the South, the punk rock titans from California Pennywise will perform. One of the leading punk rock bands of the 1990s along with Green Day and Offspring, Pennywise is characterized by dynamism and positivity, expressing the thirst for life of a whole generation. They will play in Fazz club near the Benaki Museum on Piraeus Street in Athens. The event is expected to attract fans of the band from the late 1980s as well as present ones. There will be a very pleasant surprise for those who love the style - the vocalist of the unique Ignite Zoli Teglas will sing along with his Californian friends. The ticket price is 25 euro and pre-sale has already started.

20 June is when Megadeath will play, supported by the young hopes Kvelertak, who will play before an Athenian audience for the first time. While Megadeath are well known and loved by generations of metal fans, the Norwegians Kvelertak have in no time become popular by combining different styles (death, hardcore, punk-rock, noise, sludge) in the prism of their creativity. The concert will take place at Entertainment Stage on 7-13 Ira Odos Street. The pre-sale ticket price is 30 euro and tickets are available on www.ticketarena.gr, Tickethouse and in the Public store on Syntagma Square.

27 June is the date of the next edition of the popular EJEKT FESTIVAL, which this year will pay tribute to the British stage and its best performers from the Brit pop greatest pop-rock bands from Britain in the last 15 years, along with James, who are a favourite of the Greek audience. Pre-sale tickets for 35 and 38 euro are over, but 40-euro tickets are sold out.

Last in June, but with the longest traditions in Greece, will be the annual RockWave Festival. It will be held over three days at Terra Vibe near Malakasa in the outskirts of Athens. Ska, garage and southern rock will be played on the first day - by the Locos, but the Greek cult band the Last Drive and the guests straight from Atlanta, Georgia, Nashville Pussy, will play before them. On the second day, the audience will be under the spell of metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne, who will perform after Machine Head, Paradise Lost Unisonic and Planet of Zeus. Everlast, Iggy Pop and The Stooges and the Prodigy will close the festival triumphantly.
