Since the beginning of the year there is a change observed in the prices of dozens of products sold in the super markets. Factories and import companies already initiated the first price increase for the year which are in the range of 2% to 5%. In spite of the fact that the prices of the raw materials dropped drastically, the current price increase will affect about 700 products, announces in an article the “Tea Nea” newspaper.

Representatives of the traders and owners of factories are talking discussing fears, that because of the farmers blockages speculations and new price increases could occur. The difficulty in the supply of the market with goods of first necessity is already felt and the transportation expenses has increase with almost 5% which will soon affect the prices.

According to wholesale dealers many of the stores have already received the updated lists with prices referring to milk products (they will increase with up to 3,2%), the chocolates (increase of up to 3,5%), salt (up to 3,5%), salamis (up to 4%), coffees (up to 5%), tea (up to 3%), cocoa (up to 4,5%), chips (up to 3%), cookies and croissants (up to 5%), jams (up to 3%). The prices of the paste products, dried nuts, cooked meals and cleaning compounds will also increase.

Nevertheless once again in spite of the prices that some raw materials dropped this did not affect the prices of the end products in the stores. For one year since the month of October 2008 until October 2009 the price of the wheat has dropped by 27%, the price of the corn by 13%, the pork be 14%, the olive oil by 14,5%, the veal and chicken meat register an increase of prices with 1% and 6% respectively.
