Organized beaches in Attica in 2013: How many, which ones and where

From Alimos to Voula, Porto Rafti and many other places in Attica - check out the best places for swimming and fun.

Sun loungers, pools, a cup of coffee and relaxation close to the city. Why not? The organized beaches of Attica combine all this with dozens of services that offer convenience, recreation and relaxation. And all that not far away from the centre of Athens.

The coast of Ilios, Alimos

It has everything that an organized beach should have. However, what it offers does not stop here. On the beach, there are places to eat, for events and leisure, and selling beach items. This is one of the cleanest beaches in Attica.

Bolivar Beach Bar and Loca Beach Bar, which are located there, will make you forget your everyday city life.

Asteras, Vouliagmeni

The beach is an extension of the Astir Palace hotel complex and it is visited mainly by VIP clients. This is not just a favourite place for a summer escape but also a place of entertainment throughout the year. In order for the high level of services to be maintained, a certain maximum number of visitors, 1,000, are admitted to Asteras Beach. The services it offers range from sun loungers to participation in events and competitions, eating and drinking establishments and more.

South Coast, Voula

South Coast, a new entertainment centre for summer fun and recreation that includes cafes, restaurants, water sports and a playground has been created on the first beach of Voula. This is a combination of a pool and sea and it offers grounds for beach volleyball, badminton, a  pool side restaurant with an extensive menu, refreshing cocktails and the best summer DJs.

Avlaki, Porto Rafti

It is located near Porto Rafti, about 30 km away from Athens, and it has been awarded a blue flag for many years. There are changing rooms and showers there as well as large family umbrellas, sun loungers and chairs. It is visited by about 6,000 people a day. It offers a cafe and a newspaper stand as well; a first aid clinic supplied with the necessary medicines and lifeguards during opening hours.

Yabanaki, Varkiza

The renewed Yabanaki on the beautiful main beach of Varkiza is easily accessible from the coastal road or the highway. This complex offers a large variety of activities. Happenings, contests, events, a large number of shops and restaurants operating all day long make every day different. There is a free parking lot, water sports, first-aid station and lifeguards.

Grand Beach, Lagonissi



Grand Beach is located in front of Grand Resort Lagonissi Hotel and it offers all kinds of conveniences, including a water sports centre. Grand Pier is a unique bar on the water, offering a sea view, sea air, modern music, fresh juices and drinks. There is a pool above the sea too. Poseidon restaurant is ideal for relaxing after swimming and its menu will satisfy any preferences. The price includes a sun lounger and umbrella, as well as changing rooms, showers, WC.

Eden Beach, Anavissos



You can swim and relax in front of Eden Beach Resort Hotel in Anavissos. The hotel's beach with its typical black pebbles has been awarded a blue flag in 11 consecutive years. There is no admission fee but there is a charge for sun loungers. There is a bar on the beach and a variety of water sports.

Karavi, Schinias



Karavi has an area of ​​30 hectares and the beach area is 100 metres; there is a private parking lot for 1,500 cars. There is a restaurant and beach bar, as well as sports and beach volleyball grounds, and a surf school. The beach is beautiful and offers umbrellas, sun loungers and water sports; it has been awarded a blue flag for 8 years already.

Akti, Vouliagmeni



This large popular beach is located near Posidonos seafront after Kavouri, about 20 km southeast of the centre of Athens. The surroundings are cosmopolitan, yet it has retained the local spirit of past times with lots of trees and marvelous sand. The beach is completely organized and offers sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, water sports. There is a bar, restaurant and cafes. In addition it offers access for people with mobility problems .

Asteras, Glyfada



Do you prefer a pool or the sea? You can have them both here – you can swim in the sea or in the Balux Café pool after paying for what you have chosen. The beach begins behind the old establishment "Asteria" and it is located all along the small peninsula in the south, about 20 km away from the centre of Athens. The price includes sun loungers, umbrellas, showers and changing room.
