This year’s sport season started encouragingly for the competitor in pole jump Nicole Kyriakopoulou. During the international meeting in Dresden she managed to jump over 4.30m and also scored an unsuccessful attempt for 4,35m. The goal of Kyriakopoulou is to take part in the world championship in Doha and for this purpose she has to jump a height of at least 4,40m. The presentation of the Greek athlete in Dresden put the start to her preparation for the world championship and the success she scored is a strong stimulus for her practices. Her attempts to jump over a height of 4,40m the athlete will continue during the next week in Greece.

In June 2009 during the Mediterranean championship in Peskara, the field and track athlete jumped over a height of 4,50m and like this she won the first place and went over her own record. The four meters and fifty centimeters of the Greek athlete were a record of the championship as well. In August 209 Kyriakopoulou did not qualify for the finals in pole-jump – she couldn’t jump over a height of 4.50m.

At the World championship in Berlin the Greek took the 19th place, and in the Mediterranean championship and the championship of Greece – first place.

In 2008 besides in sports championships in Greece she also took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing and also in the World championship where she qualified on 13th place. At the Balkan championship she won the first place with a score of 4.45m, and during the tournament in Tofalia (Patras) with a score of 4.30m. During the championship of Greece in 2008 Kyriakopoulou took the second place.

Her successes as field and track athlete start long time before this – at the European championship in 2004 she qualifies at the seventh place and at the World championship ladies junior she takes the sixth place.
