The match between the football teams of AEK and Anderlecht, played on the OAKA stadium in Athens, finished 1-1. Despite their overwhelming desire the yellow-blacks didn’t succeed to win against their opponent and...take the 3 points. They showed a good game, but fatigue from the last matches had its impact. Many chances that could lead to a goal remained unfinished.

The home team started the match with a good play. It ruled the ball and was the master of the field literally and figuratively. It relied on attacking and tenaciously pursued goal positions. It ruled the ball and troubled its opponent, but the goal was late... There was a very good chance for scoring in the 7th minute when Blanco was a step away to open the score. However, he nearly missed the ball. The visiting team responded 7 minutes later when Juhasz tried to score a goal with his head but the ball went out. AEK had another very good chance to score in the 30th minute but Gentzoglou missed it. The minutes to the end of the first half were filled with anticipation and ... nerves. There was no change in the result till the end. Both the players and audience became nervous. It was obvious that the goal would be a fact with a little more diligence and zeal from the home team. The result of the first half was 0-0.

The second half brought the expected changes. The home team aimed at scoring by all means... Blanco scored the goal in the 48th minute from penalty shot. The joy of the team and the fans on the stadium did not last long. The visiting team scored its goal 7 minutes later again. The player Pollack had found himself almost alone in front of Saja in the 55th minute and it was not difficult for him to draw the result. Anderlecht's goal definitely cut the wings of AEK. From this moment on, the aim of the home team was not to win but to prevent a second goal which was very close as seen. In the 62nd minute Lukaku miraculously did not shoot the ball in Saja’s net. Anderlecht decided to fight for victory 15 minutes before the end of the match. The team had a double chance to score in the 82nd minute. Lukaku broke through AEK’s  defence and sent the ball to the net but it hit the crossbar. Kanu proceeded to attack within seconds but Saja intervened and removed the ball...
