About 100 people from Corinth and the region appeared at the hospital in Corinth with symptoms of gastroenteritis on Friday morning.

Doctors, who examined them, prescribed them medications and let them go home. Only four children were left at the hospital for treatment.

The response of health authorities

With the advent of these mass cases, both the Ministry of Health and the local Health Department responded immediately.

There are representatives of health authorities in the hospital of Corinth collecting information in order to confirm the reasons leading to the outbreak of gastroenteritis.

"The water is clean"

In a statement, the Municipality of Corinth noted that there is no problem in the water supply network and the water in the city is clean.

In particular, a statement of the local water supply company emphasizes: "Today, the water of Corinth is completely sterile, according to the strict requirements for drinking water. Water purification is checked every day by 2 external scientists at all points of the network. There is no problem with the quality and hygiene of the water offered to the citizens of Corinth."

"Provocation"

In a statement, the "Efthini" union ("Responsibility") of Mayor Alexandros Pnevmatikos talks about "mechanisms for pollution and espionage" on the part of those who claim that water is responsible for the gastroenteritis. The statement also reads: "The water of Corinth is absolutely safe and there are no problems whatsoever. Provocateurs will be brought to justice. This provocation will not pass. Those who play with the health of citizens should be ashamed. The Municipal government of Corinth will show no mercy to those who play such vulgar games in order to affect the mayor, who brought water to Corinth."
