Jonas Varouksakiss’s Freeseas also decreased its fleet over the past year and now it has 7 ships. Fotini Karamanli’s Hellenic Carriers had three ships and another two under construction at the end of 2012, compared to 7 ships and two vessels under construction a year earlier. The fleet of the company Goldenport, owned by Yiannis Dragnis, also had 3 ships less and, in 2013, it consists of 23 ships. In January 2012, the Restis’ company, Seanergy Maritime Holdings, had 20 dry cargo ships, while in early 2013 it had 14. Star Bulk Carriers’ fleet, owned by Petros Pappas, had one ship less and it currently has 14 bulk carriers. The fleet of Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN), owned by Tsakos Group, also had one ship less. Today, it is controlling 49 tankers with a total capacity of 4.9 million tonnes DWT, and, in 2012, it had 50 ships with a capacity of 5.4 million tonnes DWT.
Globus Maritime did not change the structure of its fleet last year and now it has 7 ships with a capacity of 452,885 tonnes DWT – the same compared to last year. Excel’s fleet also remained unchanged - 40 ships, plus seven leased from third parties. The overall fleet capacity is 4.1 million tonnes DWT.
