The police announced that on Saturday, at 11:15 p.m., there was a firebomb attack against the residence of government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou's brother. The house is located on Strefi Hill. Unknown offenders, using hammers, broke open the entrance of the three-storey building which houses the office of Kedikoglou, who was at home together with his wife and 3-year-old child. Then, the attackers threw a Molotov bomb inside, which caused a fire. A fire engine, with three fire-fighters, arrived at the site, but, in the meantime, the fire had been extinguished, after having caused minor material damage. The attack is being investigated by the police.

Government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou said: "The only thing supporters of violence will achieve by attacking relatives and young children is intensifying our desire." He emphasised that political parties must condemn unconditionally outbursts of terror in society and added that democracy cannot be terrorised.

Multiple attacks with firebombs were made during the night. Offices of New Democracy and PASOK in Argiroupoli, Glyfada, Kipseli and Daphne, two cars in Exarcheia, a branch of the National Electricity company in Menidi, ATMs in Vironas and Kato Patisia, as well as two ATMs of Eurobank in Kessariani were also attacked.

In Argiroupoli, at 3 a.m., unknown offenders set three bottles of flammable liquid in offices of New Democracy and lit a fire causing property damage. In Glyfada, ten minutes after the first attack, unknown offenders threw a Molotov cocktail also against New Democracy offices, causing damage as well. In Kipseli, firebombs were set at the entrance of New Democracy offices. Also in Glyfada, at 4:30 a.m., unknown offenders threw two bricks against PASOK offices and caused minor damage.

In a statement, New Democracy condemned the attacks, directing its attention to the largest opposition party. The party emphasised that all parties together should condemn the attacks, including SYRIZA, which hasn't done so, so far. "The attacks against New Democracy offices and those of other political parties are against the Republic itself, as well as against political balance. Night attackers should know that they do not frighten, nor terrorise anybody. All Greeks condemn this," reads the statement.

Early on Friday, cars were set on fire in front of five houses of Greek journalists. Later, responsibility for the cases of arson was assumed by anarchists calling themselves Lovers of Lawlessness (the core of the Circles of Offenders) and Fighting Minority.
