A makeshift bomb exploded outside the house of former Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence and responsible for armament programmes Ioannis Sbokos. According to police sources, unknown persons walking down Karaiskaki Street in the northern Kifissia neighbourhood had thrown it over the fence. The incident occurred at about 9:00 pm on Wednesday.
The bomb consisted of a spool of dynamite and a thick fuse to ignite it. Fortunately, the explosion injured noone but caused material damage to the fence and the exterior entrance of the house. According to the police, it is disturbing that there was no warning phone call. The case is under investigation by the anti-terrorist service.

Ioannis Sbokos is one of the main defendants in the case of corruption against former Minister of Defence and senior PASOK functionary Akis Tsochatzopoulos. Sbokos is already sentenced to 16 years in prison for taking bribes and is currently on trial in the case of the ERMIS armament programme.
