The Greek media is recently talking about an “outbreak of divorces” because of the “avalanche” of separations of couples in the show business. Very soon after the divorce of Eleni Menegaki the Greek world of show business undergoes another shock – the divorce of the singer Eli Kokinou and Panagiotis Vasiliadis. The news about the divorce of the family came out of the blue sky, circulated through all the television channels, radio, press, internet and managed to shock the public. It was announced on the television with a shade of hysteria and left journalists and viewers puzzled about many things. About what is our idea about a certain couple and what it is in reality. And will there be more victims? The shade of hysteria was also caused by the fact that many people felt even more insecure in “the most certain thing”. The ghost of the divorce which is hanging over many couples takes victims and destroys what has been built for years.

In the case of Kokinou and her husband the shock came from the fact that the family had really won the sympathy of the Greeks. In spite of their glory, Kokinou and Vasiliadis were trying on purpose to keep the so called low profile, a fact which was positively rated by the society. As a couple and a family they had never given a reason for negative comments and there were never any signals that things are not going well between them. Hosts of television shows do not stop stressing on the facts – 10 years married life and 2,5 years of marriage culminated and “stamped” by the birth of their son Alexander. (When in September 2007 the couple got married their marriage was nominated “marriage of the year”).

“Why?” is the most common question asked. There is no answer yet, there are only speculations and gossips. One of them is that the reason for the divorce is hiding in the… fame. There is some talk that the husband of the singer prefers a life far away from the lights of the glory, while Eli Kokinou as a true star could not afford this. The couple had some controversies regarding the influence which the glory has on the young Alexander. 

And so the news that the singer leaves the family home and goes to live with her mother circulated almost all the television channels. “Experts” investigated on the subject and in “close relations with the relatives of the singer” and in life broadcasts they are fighting with the hosts regarding whether the singer has moved out and is already spending the nights at her mother’s home or if she is still with her husband and is planning to move out later on. The information is information and nobody can argue with this fact. However the heated arguments on the subject about who and at what time saw Kokinou leaving home and where she has headed afterwards are only gossips and details from the whole picture. They are the only once to tell us the truth about the marriage. If they wish to do so.
