Dimitar Berbatov played his third match with PAOK Thessaloniki again as a reserve player. Coach Igor Tudor included him in the match in the 59th minute to replace injured defender Dimitris Kostantinidis. This was a difficult moment in the match for PAOK as it lagged behind the guests with 0:1. "With the entry of Berbatov PAOK failed to equalize and subsequently to defeat its opponent," reads gazetta.gr.

Another sports edition, sport24.gr, focuses on the enthusiasm with which the audience in Thessaloniki welcomed Berbatov on the field in Tumba. His participation in the match against AEK was the first on home ground. "In the 75th minute, Gary Rodriguez found Berbatov with an excellent kick, Berbatov shot immediately but over the crossbar unfortunately ", the newspaper recalls. According to it, PAOK totally outclassed its opponent in the final minutes of the match and played in an unconventional scheme involving Pelkas, Mak, Rodriguez and Berbatov from the midfield and in attack.
After the match, the star of Bulgarian football said that the victory of PAOK was mostly due to the collective spirit, "We are a young team but we are mature enough to pull ourselves together and win in such matches. The atmosphere at the stadium was very nice, the boys told me in the changing rooms that this is always the case at Tumba," Dimitar Berbatov told reporters.
Asked when he will come out on the field as the titular, he passed the ball to coach Igor Tudor: "I am here to help the team, so I want to play. I scored many goals in my career and this does not interest me so much as to win. It is important to create opportunities to score, but if you do not play football, you cannot create them. Today we showed good spirit, we created scoring opportunities, we could realize them even earlier," added the Bulgarian.

Dimitar Berbatov assured that he felt very happy to play in a team with such young players as PAOK, in which the atmosphere was exciting and which participated in European tournaments. "For me it is important to create scoring opportunities, to pass on to my teammates to score goals, I myself enjoyed scoring goals," Berbatov replied in the style of Lionel Messi. He said he was ready to assume the role imposed by the coach and do his best for the team to win. "It is not the individual player that matters in football but the whole team," concluded Mitko.

The next match of PAOK in the Greek championship will be on 27 September, Sunday, against Atromitos Athens. The match will start at 8:30 pm at the stadium in Peristeri.
