The holydays feel nice. You get away from the everyday routine, the stress of the job, the never ending traffic of the streets. You can relax, even though not for long, in the way you feel is the best way for you. With you family, with friends, alone… If you like to avoid the chaos by relaxing with a dose of art, which will allow you to isolate yourself in a nice atmosphere, than a good suggestion for these days for you would be to follow the cultural events of the town of Volos.

It is also known among it’s citizens as the “town of the cafes”. Their number is really impressive. Some of them apart from refreshing drinks and nice view towards the sea or the mountain are offering their guests various entertainments including pictorial exhibitions! “The map” is one place definitely worth visiting (at the picture). It is a book store – café and is located on a cobbles paved street in the very center of the town (Skenderani 16). The owners are very often organizing presentation of new publications, interviews with young authors. The shelves of the neat bookstore are full of books and after you make your choice you could sit at the café and have a warm drink, while flipping the pages of your favorite book or talking with a friend or a stranger. On the second floor there is a spacious room where exhibitions are being organized. These days the contemporary Konstantinos Bobos is presenting here his paintings.

In the “Buean Vista” café (Almirou 9) there is another interesting exhibition. Five artists with interesting proposals have gathered here their works. Anastasia Patroni (interior design), Persa Patsi (plaster masks), Evgenia Vasiliou (works from stone and wire), Chrisovalandou Papadopoulu (painting) and Yorgos Zafiris (icons). The exhibition is opened every day between the hours of 7:00 until 10:00 o’clock.

Works with a core accent “The time and the human” are exposed in a hall in the “Ahilion” cinema located in the central costal street (Yasonos 108). The authors are from Volos. Paintings made out of died flowers, tree leafs could be seen on 96 Vasani street. On this address is located the gallery of the author Emanuil Diamandis and it is opened for visitors every day without Sunday from 11:00 until 13:00 o’clock and in the afternoon from 17:00 until 19:00 o’clock.

In the art-center “Giorgio de Kiriko” are exposed the works of Vivi Gardeli. The author has gathered her works under the name “Traces”. You can see them in the morning and in the afternoon until January 7th. All day long until January 10th in the center for artwork of Milies will be opened (from 12:00 until 21:30) for visitors the exhibition of Vasilis Kapelas. Last but not least the works of the famous Asteris Gekas will be exposed in the center “Vama niktos” until January 30th.

During the Christmas and New Year’s holydays at its height is also the international music festival held in the town. It lasts until January 12th. If you would like to have more information regarding the upcoming events or if you haven’t yet bought a ticket you can do this at 24210 32818 .
